Teacher Face

Yesterday I had to put on my teacher face.  I am a pretty patient person... but there are times when the teacher face is necessary.  Eric says he's glad he's not a child anymore because my teacher face scares him.  I am pretty intimidating, you know.

I needed to jump in the shower yesterday morning.  Before I hopped in I did my famous, "Does anyone need anything before I get in the shower," speech.  There were no takers, so I went ahead and gathered my things and went to clean up.

About 5 minutes in, Sadie comes to me telling me she wants a hot dog.  Where was she when I did the speech???  I told her she would need to wait... it was not safe for her to try to warm a hot dog herself (she's tried the microwave by herself before... not.good!).

She moseyed off to do who-knows-what... what really takes place when mom's in the shower, anyway???  Apparently all things exciting because next thing I know she's back telling me I need to come quick.  With conditioner in my hair I jump out of the shower, grab a towel and run through the dining room into the kitchen to find the dog snarfing down hot dogs as quickly as he can... expensive all-beef Hebrew National dogs... they are not hot dogs suited for a canine.  Dripping wet, I quickly start snatching hot dogs (did I mention I bought the family size pack of 24???) off the floor in attempt to rescue them.

Apparently Sadie went ahead with her hot dog warming (after all, she only needed to press 2-0-start... so she says) and in the process Cole decided to help.  He was the poor soul who ended up dumping the dogs on the floor and Boston-the-Wonder-Dog was just an innocent bystander willing to help clean up the mess.

Insert teacher face.  Mama wasn't happy.  Wanna come over for a hot dog???

Bubba's Back!

Last year when we moved to Salina we began renting a duplex until we could find some more permanent housing. The duplex was hot in the summer, extremely cold in the winter, had amazing goldenrod appliances, and would not allow dogs (I am not complaining about the duplex... it worked great for a season... just stating the facts;). Since dogs were not a part of the package, Boston the Wonder Dog (aka Bubba) had to stay behind. Eric's parents graciously took him in for a whole year and I think he enjoyed his stay.

Now that we are more settled in the new house and life is looking a little more "normal," we decided to go and pick up Bubba. The kids were ready for him, I was ready for some "help" keeping the dining room floor clean... and Eric, well, he could have cared less about poor Boston. Boston has adjusted well to his new home and doesn't seem to be upset with us for leaving him so long... I was a little concerned he might turn on us! He's been happy to play with the kids again, has been enjoying going on walks, and STILL annoyingly nudges your hand when he wants to be loved on. We're happy he's back... and I think Eric secretly is, too.

What's that noise???

Yesterday Sadie, Cole and I were in my bedroom changing Cole's diaper. We were all talking (well, mainly Sadie and I) and then we heard this loud crash. Since I was in the middle of taking care of some little buns, I sent Sadie in to see what the noise was about... it's always a good idea to send a child to check on a strange sound.

She quickly ran and did what I asked and quickly ran back reporting that Bubba was sitting in the high chair. I thought, "Surely not." Well, it was surely so. When I walked into the dining room here is what I found... guilty much???

I had to laugh a little bit over this because just yesterday morning as I was cleaning the kitchen I was having a prideful moment over how Cole never leaves a mess in his seat. There is never a stray cheerio or dried green bean on his cushion!!! Well, I'm afraid Mr. Cole really isn't that neat of an eater and that when we are away from the house ol' Boston is helping himself to the open buffet in the high chair. He is another mouth to feed and care for, but I think I'll keep him around as my little Dirt Devil.
